It was used during the match between Raimon and Arakumo Gakuen, at the Desert Stadium in the semi-finals of the Holy Road. Shindou, Tsurugi and Tenma fused their Keshins and were able to stop Amemiya Taiyou's Sunshine Force from advancing, revealing Matei Gryphon. Taiyou then decided to battle it with his Keshin, Taiyou Shin Apollo, and the Raimon trio were struggling with the battle, since Taiyou was able to push Sunshine Force towards them, until their teammates started to encourage them. Due to their encouragement, they were able to win the battle and sent Sunshine Force towards Arakumo's goal. Sata Tosamaru called his Keshin, Teppeki no Giga Doon, but failed to stop the shoot from the Raimon trio, so they scored the fourth and winning goal for Raimon.
Part of its name, Gryphon, is the original spelling of Griffin, the legendary creature with the head, talons, and wings of an eagle and the body of a lion.
This Keshin is the most powerful Keshin in the Inazuma Eleven GO games.
