Gouenji's Decision! (豪炎寺(ごうえんじ)決意(けつい)!, Gōenji no Ketsui!) is the 79th episode of the Inazuma Eleven series.

Summary[]

Gouenji has a big problem. His father wants him to quit soccer and become a doctor. What's more, he also wants Gouenji to withdraw from going to the nationals and go to Germany instead to study medicine. This is the very reason that has kept him from focusing on practice, and it's inhibiting him from completing Tiger Storm with Toramaru. Then, Gouenji's father contacts the chairman of Raimon and requests for Gouenji's withdrawal from Inazuma Japan. And as he is Gouenji's guardian, they cannot refuse him and must follow his wishes. Gouenji also stated that it would not be easy to change his father's mind, regardless of what everybody else thinks. What will Gouenji's decision be? Will he refuse his father or withdraw from the team?

Plot[]

Gouenji briefly returns home to have his clothes washed and meet his sister Yuuka, and his father, Gouenji Katsuya, confronts him about his future soccer plans. Katsuya demands that he quit soccer and instead study pre-medicine abroad in Germany to become a doctor, arguing that "soccer doesn't save lives." The dilemma rests in Gouenji's mind during practice, leading him to become more intense when he tries to make the combination hissatsu Tiger Storm with Toramaru.

In the middle of practice, the chairman calls him into his office and tells him that Katsuya has requested to take him off the team for him to study medicine. The chairman, who understands that Gouenji does want to continue playing soccer, asserts that he cannot go against his guardian's wishes. When he returns to the field, Aki and Endou notice that he is acting strange. Toramaru confronts Gouenji about the fact that the latter is not concentrating when practicing Tiger Storm, causing the hissatsu to fail every time.

Fuku-san, the Gouenji family's nanny, meets Gouenji one night to pick up his laundry and expresses her concern for him. She reminds him that his father, before his mother died, used to support him in soccer games all the time. His mother's death and Yuuka's accident transformed into an entirely different person who does not his dreams at all. At that moment, Gouenji has come to a decision and soon talks to his father about it in his hospital office. He promises that he will quit soccer and go to Germany, but only upon the condition that he will play in the next game and send his team to the world level. His father agrees.

As he exits the hospital, he is shocked to see Hibiki walk to his examination room in the hospital.
